Exterior
The Koleos represents a stylish upgrade on the already handsome Kadjar, benefitting from extra design refinements, including more widespread use of chrome detailing, for instance. And there’s a reassuring solidity to the vehicle, an attractively thick-set quality that is accentuated by a raised ride height, and a bold front end that features an eye-catching radiator grille and pleated bonnet. That being said, this is a very practical vehicle, one that comes with roof rails for oversize luggage haulage, for example.
Jazz up your Koleos
Although a very classy Solid White paint finish is applied as standard, there are plenty of optional colours to choose from, including Metallic Grey and Metallic Black. Mineral Beige brings a hint of subtle colouring, while Meissen Blue and Millesim Red put an entirely different complexion on things.
Alloys are standard
Even if you opt for the entry-level LIFE trim, the Koleos comes fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels. And the higher you move up the grades, the bigger the wheels get, with INTENS trims riding on imposing 19-inch alloys.
Cool accoutrements
The Koleos is blessed with a number of attractive fixtures as standard, such as a rakish shark fin antenna. ZEN grades add yet more desirable features, such as rear privacy glass, while INTENS trims boast a panoramic sunroof, which is power-operated, with a slide and tilt facility.
Comfortable and capacious
The Koleos offers plenty of knee and headroom in both compartments, and more than enough space to comfortably accommodate five adults on long journeys. The driver is treated to an elevated position, which offers a fine view of the road ahead. Travellers will appreciate the many useful cubby spaces that are located around the cabin, including door bins that are big enough to contain the largest of bottles. At the very back of the car is a 458-litre boot space, which increases to a considerable 1,690 litres with rear seats folded.
Performance
LIFE and ZEN trims feature a 4x2 drivetrain, as do top-level INTENS grades. Alternatively, INTENS variants can be selected with a 4x4 drivetrain, which is well-worth considering if you tend to include off-road surfaces as part of your motoring routine. The Renault Koleos is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine, which produces 226Nm of torque, delivering 0 to 100km/h in 10.4 seconds (10.7 seconds with 4x4s). And it manages a combined 6.7 litres per 100 km figure, making it efficient to run.
