Simple good looks This appealingly styled commercial vehicle can be selected in Compact or Maxi form, and as the name suggests, Maxi iterations offer even greater load length and payload capacity. The van is available in a choice of three solid paint finishes: Mineral White, Urban Grey and Carmen Red. If you prefer, you can pick one of a series of optional metallic colours that include Highland Grey, Jet Black, Mocha Brown, Star Blue and Poppy Red.
Easy access Finding a suitable parking spot isn’t necessarily straightforward in a busy city or town, especially if you need to make frequent pick-ups and drop-offs. It’s just as well then that the Kangoo features sliding doors on both sides, as well as 180-degree-opening rear doors.
All-weather illumination Thanks to standard-issue automatic headlights and front and rear fog lights, you’ll always be ready for whatever the day has to offer. The former react to changing light conditions, which means you don’t have to, and the latter ensure good visibility, even if thick fog descends, or it’s pouring with rain.
Choose Business Class When you choose an optional Business Pack, the Kangoo is automatically fitted with 15-inch alloy wheels, which are more than the equal of steel wheels. They’re not only just as robust, they’re much lighter, which is a very useful quality when it comes to delivering enhanced fuel efficiency.
Inside the Renault Kangoo Inside, there’s plenty of room for driver and co-traveller to get comfortable – but what of the vehicle’s load bay? Well, Compact models offer a 3,000-litre cargo capacity and an effective load length of 1.48 metres. Maxi iterations, meanwhile, deliver a 4,000-litre load volume, and an effective load length of 1.86 metres. In either scenario, the cargo area is fitted with non-slip rubber flooring and features a minimum of 10 cargo restraints that are ideal for securing awkward items.
Cab convenience The Kangoo provides front-seat occupants with adjustable positions, and additionally, the driver has the benefit of a rake-and-reach steering wheel, which means it’s easy to get comfortable quickly. And a number of useful stowage cubbies are featured, including an overhead compartment, dashboard storage, large door bins and a pair of cup-holders.
For your listening pleasure An MP3-compatible CD player and AM/FM radio feature as standard, as do AUX and USB inputs and Bluetooth connectivity – the latter enabling audio streaming and hands-free telephony. And steering wheel-mounted controls make it easy and safe to switch stations, adjust the volume and much more.
Business upgrade If you choose an optional Business Pack, an R-Link enhanced navigation system becomes available, as does Android Auto, which enables you to mirror your compatible smartphone via the van’s display screen. Furthermore, automatic climate control replaces the van’s standard-issue manual air-conditioning system.
Performance Kangoo Compact variants are powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine, which is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard (automatic transmission is available as an option). This manages a combined 6.2 litres per 100 km and produces CO2 emissions from 143g/km. Maxi models, meanwhile, are fitted with a 1.5-litre diesel unit, which is paired with six-speed automatic transmission. The latter is the most fuel-efficient option, returning a combined 5.4 litres per 100 km, while producing emissions as low as 140g/km.
Extra safety precautions The Kangoo is based on the Renault Scénic, which earned a maximum five-star ANCAP rating. And although, in this case, it has been repurposed, the resulting van adds a few safety features, such as tubular driver protection bars, which offer extra impact absorption.
Passive protection All models come with three-point height-adjustable seatbelts (with pre-tensioners), which emit a warning sound whenever unfastened. Front and side airbags are included, too, of course – while one-touch door locks allow you to get underway as quickly as possible.
Active protection A range of standard-issue driver aids include Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Stability Control. Each operates continuously, helping to ensure an even driving experience while significantly minimising the risk of skidding.
